Definition
The formal and informal mechanisms that assign and enforce responsibility for AI-influenced outcomes. Accountability structures define who owns a decision, who verifies execution, and who corrects failures when they occur.
Why It Matters
AI diffuses responsibility. When a human, an AI model, and a process all contributed to an outcome, the natural tendency is for each to assume another is accountable. Accountability Structures prevent this diffusion. Without them, AI-assisted failures produce a situation where no human is responsible for the outcome — and Human Debt accumulates in that gap.
What teams do about this
When Accountability Structures are weak, teams show Courage dropping (owning AI-influenced outcomes feels risky), Engagement declining (disconnected teams don't claim ownership), and lingering grievances about unclear ownership blocking honest work.
Use when Courage, Openness, and Resilience are dropping — or when Impression Management Alerts are high.
Use when Courage, Openness, and Engagement are dropping and the team has unaddressed grievances blocking honest ownership conversations.
Use when Resilience, Engagement, and Learning are dropping — especially through transitions or norm-and-storm moments.
These interventions are part of the Team Practice library at TechLedCulture.com — structured plays for restoring the human-state conditions that EI dimensions require.

This is already costing you
Diagnose it
Your execution risk is already forming. Measure it now. Most organisations discover this too late — after execution has already failed.

Why don't surveys fix teams?
Surveys capture perception, not execution. They do not verify whether work is actually happening or whether execution integrity is intact.
How do you measure team performance?
Team performance is measured by observing execution patterns, not reported sentiment. Execution Pods operationalise this by maintaining continuous execution integrity at team level.
What is Human Debt™?
Human Debt™ is the accumulated cost of misalignment, disengagement, and coordination failure in teams. Left unchecked, it compounds and degrades execution integrity across the organisation.
